Last Night

Last night Abbie and I decided to try getting Zoey back to sleep without nursing. It is a daunting task, and one that we tried (prematurely) several months ago only to see that effort fail. However, now that Zoey is more cognizant of the fact that it is night and she should be sleeping, it is time to try again. At around 10:30 pm, Zoey woke up as usual. This time, however, we let her cry for a few minutes, then Abbie went in to sooth her, but not to nurse. Zoey cried and cried when Abbie left the room, and after one more visit to the room, Zoey cried until she went to sleep. The whole ordeal lasted about 70 minutes. It was very tough. However, the good news is that Abbie didn't have to get up again last night. Zoey either slept or soothed herself until 7:15 this morning! Hopefully this trend will continue tonight and tomorrow and the next night!

Zoey takes some (assisted) steps!

Over the last few days after returning from our trip to Mexico, Zoey began taking a few steps while holding on to the edge of a table! Amazing, especially since she has been under the weather since the middle of the trip. In addition to not feeling well, we think she may have begun teething again in the last day or so. She spent a good deal of her day whining and crying, and it seemed that only biting on her toys would help. She has been crawling all over the place, heading for places and things that are out of bounds. Redirection is our newest ploy to keep her on the right path! Nevertheless, we are very very proud of her!
